Amy Wu
Marimba, Voice & Piano
Born in Beijing, China, Zhuoyuntong (Amy) Wu is a Chinese marimbist now living and studying in Boston.
Amy earned her Bachelor of Music degree with double majors in Marimba Performance and Music Business/Management from Berklee College of Music in 2020. She then earned a Master of Music degree in Marimba Performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee in 2022. Amy is now currently studying for her Graduate Performance Diploma in Marimba Performance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Amy’s music career sat a very young age as she began to perform around the world with CCTV (China Central Television). Having learned piano, choir, and classical percussion, her passion for classical music and playing percussion instruments as a soloist grew ever bigger after entering college.
In 2016, Amy received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston. Through hard work, she was fortunate to receive repeated invitations to become a Berklee student ambassador.
During the time at Berklee, she was one of the coordinators/hosts of the Zeltsman Marimba Festival on Tour in Boston in 2018, one of the largest events for world percussionists. Amy also worked as the event manager for Berklee’s Chinese Music Industry Club from 2017-2019. In spring of 2019, Amy was selected to receive the Percussion Department Achievement Award at Berklee.
In the years of studying at Berklee, Amy has also been working as a Teaching Assistant at the Percussion Department at Berklee.
Besides teaching and performing music, Amy loves spending time with her family and especially with her dog Mayo (who is a 2 year old mini-goldendoodle). Amy also enjoys watching movies, cooking/baking and traveling.
Amy is looking forward to share and explore the joy of music with students. She believes knowledge and hard work are the foundation to making natural music, and a sincere heart is the magicrequired for it to become all the more beautiful!
