Massimo Ivan Paparello earned his Master of Music Degree in Jazz Studies at the New England Conservatory in 2021 with honors.  In Spring of 2015; he earned his Bachelor of Music Degree at the conservatory. 

Living in Boston, he plays trumpet in an array of styles including jazz, Top 40’s, rock, funk, hip hop, folk, and classical. He has studied under Walter Smith III, Jason Palmer, John Mcneil, and Jason Moran.

His most current project is the “Eau de Vie” quartet. They are a brass quartet that take influence from Jazz and folk music. They have performed his original compositions and arrangements in Boston, MA and Canterbury, NH.

He performed with the Jason Moran Ensemble for the Slugs’ Saloon exhibit at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, 2019.  He has also performed with Dave Holland, Antonio Sánchez, Robin Eubanks, , Miguel Zenón, Terrence Blanchard, and Sean Jones. Some of the venues he has performed at in Los Angeles, CA include the Hollywood Bowl, Disney Hall, and the Monterey Jazz Festival.

He is dedicated to giving young musicians that same exciting experience he had at his first trumpet & piano lessons.

In his spare time, he enjoys cooking Italian food and playing monopoly all night long!
